Discover this country through a humanitarian mission in Cape Verde!
Made up of ten volcanic islands, scattered across the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Still relatively unknown, these islands are full of treasures and offer an immersive experience in the heart of nature. Paradise beaches, lush forests, spectacular landscapes, music, authentic villages… traveling to Cape Verde means discovering a rich biodiversity and meeting a warm and welcoming local population.
Freepackers therefore offers different projects to help you discover this destination while contributing to its preservation.
Among the reasons to do a humanitarian mission in Cape Verde, here are a few:

Cape Verde is made up of islands—some very dry and beach-focused (Sal, Boa Vista), others more mountainous and greener (Santo Antão)—with a real diversity of atmospheres. The dry season (roughly November to June) is generally the most comfortable time to travel, with sunny weather.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cap are essentials for a humanitarian mission in Cape Verde. A headlamp, warm clothing, a windbreaker, a first-aid kit, and good shoes are also highly recommended.
It’s important to arrive with humility—to observe, listen, and adapt. This makes the experience truly useful, respectful, and genuinely immersive.
Cape Verde is generally a pleasant destination, especially if you’re coming for a community project, but—as anywhere:
In Cape Verde, our programs are designed to offer you an experience that is both useful and immersive, in particular around:
Turtle conservation
Take part in supervised missions to protect sea turtles and their nests. You will contribute to activities such as patrols, monitoring, protection actions, and awareness-raising (depending on the season and the site).
Education project
During this project, your role is to support local teams in partner schools. Educational activities, games, facilitation, and learning support will be part of your tasks. For this type of humanitarian mission in Cape Verde, a few basics of Portuguese can be helpful.
You are able to stay in Cape Verde for up to 90 days without a visa.
For any international project, Freepackers Care requires the purchase of travel insurance including accident, sickness, repatriation and civil liability in case of third parties.
