YOUNG PEOPLE

OUR PROJECTS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Freepackers' humanitarian projects are spread all over the world! Asia, Africa, America or Oceania, the experiences offered are all as diverse as they are unique. The only thing they have in common is that we know all the host organisations personally and have visited most of these projects and/or destinations in person.

FAMILIES

OUR PROJECTS FOR FAMILIES

For all our community projects, we require a minimum intermediate level of English or Spanish depending on the destination (B1 minimum). Communication is indeed a key element of these programmes, and understanding and being understood by the local population is essential in order to enjoy the full richness of the project. If you need a refresher course, we can arrange for you to take a language course upon arrival or online before departure.

Our projects for gourps or in solo!

Our projects for groups or solo travelers!

For solo travellers, a humanitarian trip is ideal because it encourages meeting new people. Whether it's an educational, community or women's rights project, there's no such thing as travelling alone in the humanitarian field. You'll be with a group the whole time, completely immersed! If you want to go as part of a group, these projects are also suitable for an experience based on sharing with the local community.

HUMANITARIAN TRIPS WITH FREEPACKERS: DEFINITION

Learn about our humanitarian trips

What is a humanitarian trip?

Definition of a humanitarian trip

Humanitarian trip projects are sustainable development projects that encompass social, economic, and environmental aspects. It is a way to combine travel and volunteer work to help improve a community’s living conditions.

Humanitarian projects involve renovation, reconstruction and education, all in collaboration with local communities. The target audience is very broad, and there are many exciting experiences to be had!

Difference between a humanitarian trip project and humanitarian aid project

Humanitarian aid projects involve emergency aid during an exceptional crisis or natural disaster situation. According to Law insider, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or the United Nations (UN), humanitarian aid is travel for the express purpose of promoting human welfare only pertaining to active disaster areas.

Humanitarian trips are not emergency and one-off aid projects, but rather programs committed to the continuous improvement of a community’s living conditions.

What are the types of humanitarian projects?

Humanitarian trip projects can range from education and community development to renovation and reconstruction, all the while prioritizing collaborative work with local communities.

There are humanitarian projects designed for youth, families, solo or group volunteering.
