Freepackers carbon footprint
Here is our carbon footprint assessment, carried out in 2024: an important milestone that helps us measure our impact and continue moving towards more responsible travel.
Our emissions: 2,111 tCO₂e a year
- 34 tCO₂e come from our offices and our team's energy use (commuting, heating, electricity and so on).
- 2,077 tCO₂e come mainly from our volunteers' travel, along with our purchases and our digital activity.
💡 The essential point: although travel accounts for most of our emissions, every volunteer also generates a positive impact on local communities and the environment.
Freepackers climate action
- 2026: obtain B Corp recertification under the new V2 standards.
- 2027: cut emissions from business travel by 20%.
- 2030: cut emissions per participant by 30%, by encouraging longer stays and developing programmes reachable by train or coach.
Freepackers biodiversity action
- 2027: include biodiversity education in 100% of our volunteering programmes and environmental placements.
- 2030: publish an annual biodiversity report with the support of scientists and our partner NGOs.
With our volunteers, our partners and our team, we want to show that international commitment can go hand in hand with a concrete positive impact and a genuine reduction in our carbon footprint. 🌍
