YOUTH

Our wildlife projects for the youth!

We provide wildlife conservation assignments tailored to young people. The emphasis is on empowerment and raising awareness of animal welfare in the community. More hands-on work is carried out on a daily basis, supervised by professional animal caretakers, such as restoring enclosures, studying behaviour, caring for animals, etc. This is an opportunity for young people to discover a new culture, understand the issues and learn different methods of animal protection

FAMILIES

Our wildlife projects for families!

Wildlife projects are also ideal for family trips, raising awareness of wildlife protection challenges for young and old participants alike. Different assignments are allocated according to each person's skills, ensuring that each age group benefits from a valuable experience. On these projects, children are also given a safe space and there is specific supervision adapted to families.

IN A GROUP OR SOLO

Our wildlife projects for a group or solo!

Many wildlife programmes are adapted to groups, especially the refuge assignments, which feature a succession of team workcamps. Wildlife projects are also an opportunity to go it alone, to join a multicultural team where different conservation techniques will be put into practice in the field! You will never really be alone, constantly surrounded by other participants, the local population and the team on site.

WILDLIFE VOLUNTEER PROJECTS WITH FREEPACKERS: DEFINITION

What is wildlife volunteering?

Wildlife volunteering is a project focused on the welfare, conservation and protection of species and their habitats. Wildlife volunteers engage in hands-on work all over the world to help animals in need. They could be doing anything from monitoring species populations to nursing injured animals back to health! Volunteering for a wildlife program can be a very important and rewarding experience.

How to volunteer to help animals

Freepackers offers a range of assignments that allow you to travel while taking action for the protection of species around the world. Depending on the project you choose, you could be contributing to the conservation of one specific species or to a variety of species. The wildlife projects enable people to learn the right conservation techniques to ensure a healthy coexistence between humans and animals.

What to expect from wildlife volunteer programs

The wildlife projects are a forum for dialogue with the local community, including workshops to raise awareness on the issues related to the preservation of species in the region. It’s the perfect mix between wilderness experience and cultural immersion. You will be part of a multicultural team, with participants from all over the world coming to the project with the same objective of discovery and commitment. The team is specialised in conservation issues and will tell you everything you need to know to make your project a success!

Your tasks will differ depending on your project but you can expect to be monitoring species populations, helping to build/repair habitats, nursing injured animals back to health, etc.. No matter which program you choose, you will definitely learn new skills and make amazing memories!

What should I be doing now to become a wildlife volunteer?

The first step if you want to become a wildlife volunteer is to do your research! Think about what kind of program you would be interested in. Do you want to protect marine life? Perhaps you are more interested in working in an elephant sanctuary? There is a need for wildlife volunteers all over the world! Freepackers offers a diverse range of wildlife volunteer programs.

There are also ways to help that are more local! You can volunteer at an animal shelter or wildlife sanctuary near you.

Wildlife volunteer program examples

There are a wide variety of wildlife volunteer programs that are offered by Freepackers. With each program, you will be part of a multicultural team and will be exposed to a new culture! We work with verified organisations that work to make a real difference!

With some programs, you will be working in a wildlife sanctuary focused on one specific species. Other programs are more habitat focused, where volunteers work to improve a certain habitat and all the local wildlife is benefited! There are dog, cat and horse shelters that work with animals that have been abandoned and neglected as well! Freepackers also partners with many marine wildlife projects and sea turtle sanctuaries all over the world!
