Social work with communities in Spain

In this professional and social integration program in Barcelona, you will support adults with disabilities in their social and professional inclusion by involving them in ethical and responsible tourism.

Your main missions are as follows:

• Help with decoration, painting, gardening, and maintenance of the facilities.
• Assist people with disabilities in their daily tasks.
• Organize and set up spaces for community events and summer childcare activities.
• Participate in social initiatives carried out on-site.
• Contribute to the project’s communication and coordination.
• Promote inclusion and social interaction among staff, responsible travelers, and other volunteers.
• Support accessibility projects related to the social mission of the hostel where you will be staying.
• Help with translation with the staff (French/English).

You will have the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, gain valuable experience, and actively contribute to a positive and inclusive social impact through solidarity and teamwork.

Volunteers will work 35 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Weekends are free to enjoy the city of Barcelona! Keep in mind that you will have a busy schedule during the week, with accommodation located outside the city center.

On-site, you will have 2 mandatory Spanish lessons per week. However, if you wish to take classes before your departure, we also offer optional Spanish courses with a partner school. This option helps you improve your Spanish beforehand if you want to learn the basics of the language. Please contact us for more information.

You will be accommodated in a share apartment, or in a youth hostel in Vallvidrera. In both cases, you will be sharing your room with other volunteers. The mixed-gender rooms fit 3 to 5 beds.

Washing machines are available, with one use per week included.

Volunteers aged 14 to 17 stay with a host family at an additional cost. You will be a maximum of 2 per room.

Meals

All meals are included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Meals are primarily vegetarian, with occasional meat options. If you have any allergies or food intolerances, please let us know.

A kitchen is available, and ingredients are provided, so volunteers cook together.

You will be supervised by an on-site coordinator who will assist, guide, and support you throughout your stay.

Barcelona is the second most populated city in Spain and is renowned for its high quality of life. Known for its Mediterranean tapas, historic streets, and beautiful beaches, the city offers plenty of incredible places to explore.

It is also possible to take part in our youth program from the age of 14 . In this project, you will get involved in 2 weeks of marine conservation and 1 week of community and social project. A great opportunity to gain a rich experience in learning, immersion, and discovery.

In addition to the projects, you will attend 2 hours of Spanish classes per week, to improve your level and make real progress.
