During this humanitarian trip in South America, you will support local communities in the Cusco region of Peru, particularly underprivileged children, through a wide range of activities such as teaching English, writing, arts and crafts, theatre, music, and more. You can also help them stay active by organizing sports activities.
The experience is enriching for everyone involved, as you will also learn a great deal about Peruvian culture. This volunteer program in Peru is a unique opportunity to help bridge educational gaps while contributing to the development of a local community in Cusco.
Our Family Projects are suitable for children aged 4 and above. Our advisors will provide personalized recommendations based on your children’s ages, your chosen destination, and the type of volunteer project.
In Cusco, several afterschool programs provide a safe and supportive environment for children after school hours. In this project, you will work with children from disadvantaged backgrounds who may lack parental support, educational opportunities, or access to adequate nutrition. Most of the children are between 6 and 12 years old, although there may also be opportunities to work with younger or older children.
You will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the children while helping them develop valuable skills and knowledge.
Typical activities include:
Homework assistance;
Educational support and promoting children’s well-being;
Arts, crafts, and creative activities;
Sports and games;
As well as many other recreational activities.
Preparing and serving a hot lunch or dinner is often an essential part of these programs. Volunteers actively participate in meal preparation and food distribution.
In this project, you will assist a teacher in supervising a class of 20 to 30 children aged 3 to 5 years old. Most of the children come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The kindergarten provides them with a safe environment where they can play, learn through educational activities, and discover new experiences.
Depending on your interests and skills, you may organize sports sessions or other educational activities suitable for young children. Volunteers are highly encouraged to take initiative and introduce new ideas, which are greatly appreciated by the local team.
In this project, you will work as a teaching assistant in a local primary or secondary school with students aged 7 to 17 years old.
You will begin by observing the teacher to become familiar with the classroom environment. You will then help supervise students, assist them with their schoolwork, and most importantly, support the teacher with classroom activities.
Your role may involve teaching English, another foreign language, mathematics, or physical education. Your responsibilities will depend on your interests, skills, and the specific needs of the host school.
Volunteers will receive their schedule upon arrival in Cusco. In general, volunteers work Monday to Friday. This leaves plenty of free time to travel and explore the surrounding region during weekends.
