Mexico is a country in southern North America with tropical landscapes, palm trees, white sand, and turquoise water. The capital of Mexico is Mexico City, which is also the largest city in the country. Spanish is the official language of Mexico and the official currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN).
Advice before volunteering in Mexico
Before volunteering in Mexico, remember that due to the tropical environment, you may need vaccinations for diseases like hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and others. Be sure you have any medication you may need during your stay.
Although many of the locals do speak English, particularly in the tourist areas, learning some basic Spanish phrases will definitely enhance your connection with the community.
Mexico has diverse climates, so make sure you know about the weather conditions in the specific region where you’ll be volunteering so that you can pack accordingly.
It will also help to familiarize yourself with the local currency (Mexican Peso) and its exchange rate to your currency.
