Namibia is a country located on the southwestern coast of Africa. It is known for its epic landscapes. The Namib Desert stretches along the Atlantic coastline with its majestic dunes. It has several protected parks and reserves to celebrate and protect its rich plant and animal life. One notable park is Etosha National Park, home to the Etosha Pan, in the north of the country.
Windhoek is the capital and largest city of Namibia. The official language of Namibia is English, though there are also many commonly spoken indigenous languages such as Oshiwambo, Otjiherero, and Nama. Namibia’s economy relies heavily on agriculture, tourism, and the mining of mineral resources such as diamonds, uranium and copper.
Before volunteering in Namibia you should familiarize yourself with some of the local customs. Showing respect for the local culture will help you to build a much stronger relationship with the community.

- Visa
- For tourist stays of less than 90 days, French, Belgian, Swiss and Canadian nationals do not require a visa. You must be in possession of a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of the end of your stay in Namibia.
- Health

Advice before volunteering in Namibia
Before leaving, you should also make sure you have the necessary vaccinations and medications for your trip to Namibia. Consider vaccinations for diseases such as hepatitis A and B and typhoid, and ask your doctor about malaria prevention.
It is always a good idea to make copies of important documents such as your passport, visa, travel insurance, and emergency contacts as well!
Is it safe to volunteer in Namibia?
Namibia is considered to be one of the safer countries in Africa, and our projects are carefully selected and monitored by partners on site. Nevertheless, you should of course still exercise general caution. Be cautious about drinking unfiltered water, especially in rural areas. Stick to bottled or treated water to avoid waterborne illnesses.

In order to volunteer in Namibia, you must be 18+, have at least an intermediate level of English, have a valid passport and have travel insurance.
