Together with other members of this committee, we worked between 2016 and 2017 on an ethical charter designed to guide the selection of our projects through a list of strict criteria. We know that exploring the world and discovering new horizons can have harmful environmental impacts, such as carbon emissions that contribute to climate change.
However, at Freepackers, we believe it is possible to combine mobility and sustainability. Every action counts, which is why we are committed to concrete measures to offset and reduce the carbon emissions generated by our members’ missions abroad. By choosing to travel with Freepackers, you actively take part in our mission to promote a greener and more responsible way of exploring the world.

At Freepackers, we are committed to properly preparing our volunteers. A humanitarian mission cannot be improvised; it requires serious preparation and involvement beforehand. That’s why we offer training programs specifically designed to inform and prepare you in the best possible way before your departure.
Anyone wishing to take part in an environmental research or wildlife conservation mission must complete a 15-hour online theoretical training in English. This training is structured around three main areas.
You will explore the roles and responsibilities of a team leader. This module will help you develop the skills needed to lead a team.
This module will give you the tools to seize job opportunities in the field of sustainable development. You will be asked to answer a series of questions and work on practical case studies to help you identify the type of position that suits you best.
The Wildlife Conservation Course is designed to teach you how interactions between animals and the environment contribute to the proper functioning of an entire ecosystem.
In addition to theoretical training, we provide step-by-step support to participants before their departure. We are here to answer their questions and give them all the tools they need to adapt and succeed in their mission.
You will find plenty of testimonials and useful information on the Freepackers blog. Feel free to browse through it, it will help you picture yourself in the experience.

From specific visas, international programs, and government assistance to tax deductions or fundraising, you’ll see that funding options are more numerous than you might imagine!
This second document compiles all the support available in France for young people wishing to participate in a humanitarian mission abroad. It includes details of scholarships awarded by region, along with eligibility criteria and available amounts.
Our goal is to provide as much information and resources as possible to make international programs accessible to everyone.
Because we firmly believe that information and awareness are essential in our field, we don’t just answer phone calls—we come to meet you, all across France!
Throughout the year, we organize conferences in schools and universities, participate in student and professional fairs, speak at top institutions, and take part in events dedicated to employment, social integration, or eco-responsibility.
These sessions aim to inform, answer questions, raise awareness about the challenges of a humanitarian project, present practical case studies, and share anecdotes. For us, it is an incredible opportunity to engage with students and high schoolers and introduce our various missions. It’s a unique chance to discuss our values and aspirations for ethical, eco-responsible mobility that respects both people and the environment.
