Humanitarian trip: your impact on humanity

Freepacker experiences promote exchange, learning and sharing.

Young people

Our community projects for young people

For young people, humanitarian projects focus on sports activities, in schools, and with children or teenagers. There are also missions involving infrastructure renovation, allowing them to work in immersion within the local community as part of a group of peers. A humanitarian trip is the perfect mix of discovering a new culture, sharing with locals, and meeting young people from around the world!

FAMILY

Our community projects for families

A humanitarian trip is highly appreciated by families. It’s an opportunity to enjoy a meaningful experience where each generation can share their impressions and contribute to the community in their own way. If the adults have teaching experience, they can support the local teachers and even teach their own children alongside local students. Discover and take part in a new educational system together!

Our Community Projects for Families

Our community projects for a group or solo

For solo travelers, a humanitarian trip is ideal because it encourages meaningful connections. Whether it's an educational, community-based, or women's rights project, traveling alone doesn't exist in the world of humanitarian work. You'll always be with a group, fully immersed! If you prefer to travel in a group, these projects are also well-suited for a shared experience with the local community.

Humanitarian journey with FreePackers: Definition

Freepackers’ mission: Democratizing international mobility. Allowing everyone to get involved in a project that aligns with their values, and to take on an active and committed role.

To do so, we organize your humanitarian missions with you. Reminder: unlike emergency humanitarian aid projects, which involve urgent and temporary support during an exceptional crisis or natural disaster, a humanitarian trip is a sustainable development project that includes social, economic, and environmental aspects.

This includes renovation, reconstruction, and education support, but above all, collaborative work with local communities. A humanitarian trip encompasses all missions that contribute to improving the living conditions of a community. The audience is broad, and the experiences to be had are plentiful!

Freepackers experiences promote exchange and sharing. We believe our projects should lead to learning: discovering a new culture, making new connections, exploring various traditions, and above all, encouraging exchange. Open-mindedness is therefore the key word of a humanitarian journey!

Concrete examples of humanitarian trips with Freepackers

  • Missions with children: tutoring, sports, activities…
  • Women’s empowerment: workshops, discussions, meetings, support campaigns…
  • Renovation and reconstruction missions
  • Micro-enterprise and local development missions

We also offer immersive experiences to live at the pace of a local community with a culture very different from our own. It’s an opportunity to discover a new way of life and meet many new people, such as in the heart of the Maasai tribe in Tanzania!

Where to go on a humanitarian mission?

Freepackers humanitarian projects are spread all over the globe! Asia, Africa, the Americas, or Oceania — the experiences we offer are as numerous as they are unique. One common point: we personally know all our host organizations and have visited most of these projects and/or destinations ourselves.

For all our community projects, we require at least an intermediate level in English or Spanish depending on the destination (minimum B1). Communication is a key element of these programs, and being able to understand and be understood by the local population is essential to fully benefit from the project. If a refresher is needed, we can arrange language lessons upon your arrival or online before departure for your humanitarian journey.

Trust Freepackers for your humanitarian project!

Since 2010, Freepackers has worked closely with many local NGOs across 36 destinations, all personally met and carefully selected with ethics and professionalism. Since our opening, over €200,000 has been donated to partner NGOs and more than 2,500 volunteers have contributed to social engagement and eco-volunteering projects.

So if you want to be the change you wish to see in the world, go on a humanitarian journey with Freepackers!
