The main mission is to support local associations that rescue lost or abandoned cats. Animal shelters play a crucial role in Lisbon due to the high number of abandonments. These shelters are often full and constantly need volunteers to dedicate their time and love to the animals, ensuring their health and well-being, and giving them the best chances of being adopted.
This sustainable tourism program in Portugal aims to collect stray cats from a local garden and provide them with a safe environment. The goal is to make them happy, healthy, and ultimately find them loving adoptive families. The shelters also aim to raise awareness about abandonment through events that you can actively participate in.
Tasks vary from day to day and primarily involve playing with the cats, feeding them, cleaning the wooden house, assisting with some care routines, supporting adoption events, maintaining the garden, and taking photos and videos of the cats to help promote their adoption. Daily interaction and playtime with the cats are crucial as it helps them become more sociable with people and increases their chances of adoption. So come and make a difference in preserving the well-being of cats in Lisbon as part of your sustainable tourism experience in Portugal!
