Ecovolunteering in Kenya

Ecovolunteering in Kenya

The farm is located in a rural area, in the Great African Rift Valley in Kenya. The farm has adopted an eco-responsible approach since its opening to the public in 2008. They lead actions that contribute to the protection of biodiversity and local development. It takes about 4 hours to drive from the farm to Nairobi.

Main missions of the ecovolunteers

– Maintenance of the property so that the animals, staff members and future eco-volunteers can enjoy appropriate comfort.

– Inventory of animal and plant species and study of the behavior of domestic and wild animals (especially monkey families, but also tree damsels and birds).

– Making harnesses specially designed in order to limit the pain inflicted on the donkeys and setting up awareness actions with the population.

– Collecting waste during visits to villages and natural sites.

– Introduction to Swahili, conservation education, courses on animal behavior, the different Kenyan ethnic groups, local cuisine.

– Excursions to Nyahururu (Thompson Falls, hippos, St. Martin’s Mission), Mary’s Village (Catholic mission and basilica), Igana view point, Berea tea and coffee farm.
