Canberra is the capital city of Australia. English is the official language of Australia. The Australian Dollar (AUD) is the official currency.

Australia is a very large country and therefore has very diverse climates, so make sure to research the weather conditions in the area where you’ll be volunteering.
Be aware of potential encounters with animals and follow safety guidelines, especially if volunteering in natural or remote areas. Remember to always respect the environment and wildlife as well!

Australia is a very safe destination for volunteering. They have a low crime rate and high health and safety standards. However, Australia can be prone to natural hazards such as bushfires, floods, and cyclones so make sure to stay informed. As always when traveling, you should still exercise general caution when in an unfamiliar area.
Is it expensive to volunteer in Australia?
Each program has different prices to be sure to check whichever one you are interested in. Also keep in mind that each program may differ in what is included. Flights are not included in the price. Australia itself is as expensive as you make it. If you prefer to travel around the country and eat in more touristy areas, it will be a more expensive trip.

In order to volunteer in Australia, you must be 18+, have at least proficient English, have a valid passport and have travel insurance.
