Cape Verde Education Project

Cape Verde Education Project

Freepackers offers you an education project at the heart of a humanitarian children’s association in Africa; our partner is located in Cape Verde.

Discover all our humanitarian project programs. For the 42 children distributed across the 3 kindergarten and primary school classes, supervision and educational programs are handled by only 7 teachers, which explains the significant need for volunteers. Unfortunately, Cape Verde is often affected by severe droughts, leading to major economic and social issues.

Missions and Schedule

Your day starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Volunteers and interns primarily assist local teachers in their daily tasks with the children. Those with experience (BAFA, teaching studies, etc.) and those fluent in Portuguese will be given additional responsibilities. All participants take on-site classes to learn a few Portuguese words upon arrival.

Here are some examples of missions you may carry out:

  • Introduce children to numbers and the alphabet in English.
  • Lead group activities such as board games, modeling clay, or coloring.
  • Create physical and sports education games.
  • Introduce children to colors, shapes, and other cognitive exercises.
  • Teach popular songs and poems.
  • Share information, stories, and anecdotes about your home country and culture.
  • Keep a record of the lessons you have given, to pass on your methods and content to future participants and ensure continuity in the learning process for the children of the partner school of the humanitarian children’s association in Africa.

Meals

Food is included in the project. You will have the opportunity to enjoy local dishes cooked with a good atmosphere at the volunteer house (local style).

Vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free meals are also available upon request.

(Additional budget should be allocated for these activities).

It is also important to know that in Cape Verde, the culture and habits are different from European habits. Punctuality, for example, is very relative.
