Community project in France

Join this community work camp in France, in the heart of Dordogne! Open to young people aged 15 to 18, this program is ideal for groups of 8 to 25 participants who want to take part in environmental initiatives and renovation projects. Enjoy a unique experience of solidarity and sharing in support of local development.

The goal of this youth work camp in France

  • To improve local residents’ quality of life by involving them in a range of projects
  • To enhance and restore local heritage
  • To maintain and develop green spaces

In practical terms, you will take part in a mix of projects spread across 5 sites:

  • Heritage renovation (wall consolidation, abbey, castle)
  • Small maintenance work (object-making, signage, repairs, costumes, sewing)
  • Helping organize activities and events in community cafés, third places, and local events (art, dance, or music festivals)
  • Running creative workshops (drawing, painting, clay)
  • Maintaining outdoor green spaces (gardening, brush clearing, planting, permaculture)

These work camps cover a wide variety of activities—whether it’s renovating small heritage sites, artistic creation, supporting volunteers during local events, or taking part in environmental projects—all with a shared purpose of serving the public interest.

Local stakeholders are always involved to encourage intercultural encounters, engagement, and young people’s active participation.

Project allocation depends on project availability and departure dates.

FAQ

A youth work camp is a stay where teenagers take part in solidarity-based projects, often focused on construction, renovation, or environmental protection. Organized in several countries, these work camps allow young people to help improve local communities’ living conditions while gaining valuable practical and interpersonal skills.

These programs offer many benefits:

  • Meaningful engagement: Teenagers take part in concrete, useful projects that have a positive impact on local communities and the environment.
  • Hands-on experience: Young people gain new technical skills and become more independent.
  • Cultural and language exposure: Working alongside local communities gives them a unique immersion in a different culture. Teens practice English every day while being surrounded by people from all over the world.
  • Personal development: These experiences encourage teamwork, responsibility, and self-confidence.

For younger participants, there are summer camps built around environmental, community, or animal projects. These supervised stays allow children and teenagers to get involved in an age-appropriate solidarity mission, while also enjoying fun and educational activities.
