Three days around Mendoza: family-run vineyards, rafting and ziplining or a sunset horse ride, then the road through the Andes to the foot of Aconcagua.

The tour

Mendoza, at the foot of the Andes, is the starting point for this short road trip combining wine, adrenaline and big landscapes. You get there by overnight bus from Córdoba and stay two nights in a hostel, or in a hotel for a supplement.

Day one is all about the vineyards, with visits to family-owned and boutique wineries away from the crowds. On day two you choose your thrill: rafting on the Mendoza River and ziplining at Potrerillos, or a two-hour sunset ride in the Lunlunta Valley followed by an asado criollo. On day three the road climbs towards Aconcagua via Uspallata and Puente del Inca, as far as Laguna de Horcones.

Led by professional guides, the tour is open to adults aged 18 and over, solo or in a group.

Day by day

Day 1: Mendoza’s wine country

Visits to family-owned and boutique wineries, each with its own story, to share the local passion for wine and tradition in an intimate setting, away from the crowds.

Day 2: rapids or ridges, your choice

Option one: a day of rafting on the Mendoza River and ziplining across the Potrerillos dam, with a bilingual guide, personal insurance and all the gear (wetsuit, safety equipment and a support kayak). Option two: a two-hour sunset ride through the Andean foothills of the Lunlunta Valley, followed by an asado criollo dinner.

Day 3: towards Aconcagua

A Mendoza-style breakfast at Potrerillos overlooking the dam, then a stop in the mountain village of Uspallata and at Puente del Inca, a natural formation in vivid colours. On to Aconcagua Provincial Park for a one-hour walk to Laguna de Horcones, facing the 'Colossus of America', and a picnic in the landscape.

Two nights in a youth hostel in Mendoza; a hotel is available for a supplement.

Meals

Breakfast is included. Lunches and dinners are at your own expense, although the programme includes an asado criollo after the horse ride, and breakfast and a picnic on the Aconcagua day.

Arrival

You travel to Mendoza by overnight bus from Córdoba, included in the price. Once there, transfers between the hostel and the excursions are provided.
