Horse riding in Argentina

A full day on horseback in the Sierras de Córdoba: rolling hills as far as the eye can see, a dip in a quiet river, caves steeped in history and an asado in the mountains.

The tour

This day takes you riding through the Sierras de Córdoba, on hill trails with wide-open views. The horses are well trained and gentle, suited to riders of every level, and passionate guides look after your safety throughout.

Along the way you discover caves and old shelters once used by the native peoples of these mountains, cool off in a secluded river, then share an asado, the traditional Argentine barbecue, in the middle of the sierras.

The outing is open to adults from 18, solo or in a group. Wear long trousers whatever the season, to protect your legs from scrub and brambles.

Day by day

Morning: from Córdoba to the mountains

An 8am bus from Córdoba bus terminal to La Falda. The team meets you at La Falda terminal and drives you to the mountain meeting point. At 10.30am you saddle up for a two-hour ride through the sierras.

Midday: an asado in the open

Afternoon: river, caves and the ride back

Time by the river, with a swim if you like, and a visit to the caves once used by the native peoples. A two-hour ride back, returning around 6pm.

Meals

Lunch is an Argentine asado, shared around the fire in the mountains. Bring water and a few snacks for the day.

Arrival

Meet at 8am at Córdoba bus terminal for the bus to La Falda, where the team picks you up and takes you to the starting point. Back around 6pm. Bring comfortable clothes, good shoes, sunscreen and a scarf against the dust.
