The project
The province of Palawan, located in the MIMAROPA region, is the largest province in the Philippines and is full of wildlife sanctuaries, marine reserves and World Heritage sites. Nestled on the island of Palawan, one of the most biodiverse islands in the Philippines, this region offers some of the most spectacular seascapes in the world, sparking strong local interest in conservation.
“Family” projects are suitable for children aged 4 and up. Our advisors will provide personalized recommendations based on your children’s age, the destination, and the type of mission.
This environmental project aims to safeguard mangroves and halt their decline, which has accelerated in recent years. To achieve this, it is vital to educate the younger generations and to continue planting new mangroves.
The help of volunteers is invaluable in strengthening the natural coastal barrier, protecting our beaches from storms and erosion while keeping them clean. What’s more, your support is essential in raising children’s awareness of environmental protection during educational sessions.
The types of tasks
This job requires physical strength and stamina, especially in hot weather. What’s more, your tasks will vary from day to day. Your main responsibilities will be:
- Taking part in the coastal clean-up campaign.
- Harvesting mangrove plants.
- Planting the mangroves.
- Preparing lessons and teaching materials for an educational campaign on environmental conservation for local public schools and the community.
- Teaching children and the community about environmental conservation, in particular mangrove restoration.
- Putting up signs on environmental conservation.
- Making eco-friendly bricks.
- Helping the community with its clean and green programmes.

Accommodation and meals
You’ll be staying in the volunteers’ house, which is built from a wealth of natural materials to give it a tropical beach feel! You’ll sleep in bunk beds.
The accommodation is located in the village of Tigman, in the district of Aborlan, a peaceful area. About 72 km from Puerto Princesa, a two-hour drive, and twenty minutes from Aborlan town centre, our centre enjoys an ideal location close to the beach.
Meals
Three good meals are provided each day at 8am for breakfast, 12pm for lunch and 6pm for dinner, and at weekends only brunch and dinner.
The food will consist mainly of typical local and Western dishes. There will also be pasta, seafood, mostly chicken and pork, vegetables and fruit. For breakfast, we serve eggs, sausages, oatmeal, bread, pancakes, coffee and tea. Meals are also served according to your dietary requirements.
Arrival and transfers
There are many means of local transport available, including jeepneys, buses and vans, which leave hourly for either Aborlan town or Narra. The journey to Aborlan town centre takes around twenty minutes, and thirty minutes to Narra.
In the town of Narra, you’ll find ATMs and Western Union transfer services. You will have access to all the necessary amenities, such as banks, pharmacies, grocery shops, local restaurants, bars, public markets, parks etc.
