In this year-round program in New Zealand, you will help with young plant cultivation, waste cleanup, and coastal restoration, all while being immersed in breathtaking landscapes and a unique biodiversity.
The goal is to support environmental protection and conservation efforts in New Zealand. You will take part in various missions to assist local teams based on current needs.
You can choose from one of these three destinations, each offering different projects:
Here is an overview of the activities you may be involved in to support the project:
Some activities may vary depending on the season.
You will work in teams of 2 to 8 people. A coordinator will provide instructions and guidance to ensure the success of your projects.
You will contribute to a project aimed at reintroducing biodiversity into the city. Your tasks may include trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, and waste collection.
As the largest city in Aotearoa, Tāmaki Makaurau also offers many places to explore!
You will work in Belmont Park, where you will help reforest the area. You will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of projects, including trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, and coastal cleanup.
After work and on weekends, explore the city! Visit beaches just a 10-minute walk away, or discover sanctuaries and museums. The accommodation is surrounded by forest and nature.
You will assist in restoring the region’s river corridors and wetlands. The aim is to protect waterways and indigenous species such as birds, lizards, and insects. You will also contribute to projects in the stunning Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour.
This location is ideal for volunteers who want to explore and learn about the region’s history, particularly the Christchurch earthquakes.

Accommodation varies depending on the projects and locations. There are three main centers where you can carry out your project:
Assignments depend on your preferences, but primarily on the available projects and local needs at the time of your arrival.
Typical accommodations include volunteer houses or hostels. Volunteers are required to bring a sleeping bag and should be prepared to share rooms and bathrooms.
Each location offers a unique experience, with facilities that include a laundry area, Wi-Fi, and cooking amenities.
All meals are included on weekdays and weekends. Volunteers are encouraged to cook together using the food provided. Please let us know if you have specific dietary requirements.
Airport transfers are not included, and transfers to the project site are also not covered by the program. We recommend taking some time off when changing projects, depending on the distance between the different locations. This will give you the opportunity to explore and enjoy the destination.
Upon your arrival on Friday morning, you will receive a one-hour orientation to familiarize you with the program. After the orientation, you will be taken to the local volunteer accommodation and have the rest of the day to settle in.
Internet access is available at the volunteer accommodations but cannot be guaranteed in rural areas.
At the end of the program, the team will thank you and present you with a certificate of participation as a volunteer.
