In the Kerala region, thishumanitarian project for women’s rights in India seek to strengthen women action capacities. We need creative and dynamic volunteers to help them gain autonomy. This involves providing information about health, family planning, setting up small businesses, managing their assets, and supporting their general education as well as that of their children. These women, often from highly disadvantaged backgrounds, are often skilled artisans: making clothes, sewing, preparing henna, etc. However, they need English and computer lessons, as well as your guidance in entrepreneurship.
The typical day of a volunteer begins with breakfast at 8:30 AM, and the workdays run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and in the afternoon from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the library, Monday through Friday. A coordinator is always present to facilitate interactions with the local population in all our programs.
Lunch is taken either at home or at the workplace. In the afternoon or evening, volunteers can attend classes, participate in workshops, explore the city, and have dinner.
Each program has an interpreter (in English) who assists volunteers as needed, helping them to make the most of their humanitarian mission for women’s rights in India.

Volunteers are accommodated in the volunteer house (maximum 30 people) in shared rooms with up to 4 volunteers. The windows are equipped with mosquito nets. The house features European-style toilets, cold-water showers, and Wi-Fi in the common areas. Coffee, tea, and fresh water are available throughout the day, and the kitchen also has a fridge for volunteers. A large balcony and a rooftop area are available for students and volunteers. The NGO office is located downstairs and is open from 8 AM to 5 PM every day. There is a curfew at 10 PM.
Private rooms are available at an additional cost of $25 per night.
Three meals are provided daily, except for Sunday evening dinner.
South Indian food is flavorful and varied, and volunteers can expect to explore a myriad of local dishes during their stay.
Breakfast varies daily and includes either an Indian breakfast or, on some days, eggs, bread, fruits, tea, and coffee. Lunch and dinner consist of local curry dishes made with coconut, rice, roti, or chapatti.
Meals are generally vegetarian, featuring potatoes, okra, brinjal, squash, carrots, beets, and various pulses and lentils. If you have dietary requirements, please let us know in advance so the NGO can make necessary arrangements on-site.
If you wish to have Western meals, they are readily available at nearby cafés and restaurants.
