Martine’s Immersion in the Big Five Conservation Project in South Africa
Martine’s Wildlife Conservation Experience in South Africa
WHAT WERE THE TASKS ASSIGNED ON SITE?
On the Big Five conservation program in South Africa, the tasks were very varied and immersive: wildlife monitoring and observation, species counting, collecting waste from a river to help preserve the ecosystem, and clearing a road to allow elephants to pass through. We also took part in observation walks to identify signs of poaching and contribute to the protection of local wildlife.
WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE BROUGHT ME…
This experience taught me a lot about wild animals and their natural environment. It also allowed me to discover life in the bush, in conditions completely different from my everyday routine. On a personal level, it helped me become more independent and adaptable, and linguistically, I was able to improve my English through interactions with international teams.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS MISSION?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this mission. It is both meaningful and impactful, allowing participants to actively contribute to wildlife conservation. On top of that, it is a very immersive, fun, and enriching experience in every way.

WOULD I RECOMMEND FREEPACKERS?
Yes, everything was very well organized and professional from start to finish, which made the experience smooth and reassuring.
