Marie’s enriching experience at a dog shelter in Sri Lanka.

WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE BROUGHT ME…

This experience gave me a better understanding of dogs, as well as a different perspective on disability in animals.

It also taught me to develop mental strength so that my emotions would not take over.

The satisfaction of seeing the dogs progress brought me great joy. Additionally, being left alone on the project helped me develop my independence.

WHAT TASKS WERE ASSIGNED ON SITE?

The tasks assigned to me included cleaning the animals’ bowls, preparing food, cleaning floors, cutting bandages, participating in hydrotherapy sessions, and socializing with the dogs, puppies, and cats.

I was also responsible for walking the disabled dogs, providing them with valuable interaction and a rewarding experience for both them and me.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS MISSION?

I highly recommend this mission to anyone informed, as it can be overwhelming at first due to the large number of animals, some of which may jump on you. However, once you adapt to this daily life, this project proves to be wonderful and truly worthwhile. It’s important to note that this project is not suitable for everyone, but for those ready to take on the challenge, it can be an extremely rewarding experience.
