WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE BROUGHT ME…

I’m truly proud of having taken on the challenge of traveling alone—what a journey for my first solo trip. Doing an eco-volunteer project had always been a dream of mine, and I was lucky enough to live it within a truly animal-dedicated organization, without any greenwashing. This experience brought me so much: I feel more confident in myself and in my English skills. Professionally, I now feel ready to apply for jobs that require English fluency without hesitation.

WHAT WERE THE ASSIGNED TASKS ON SITE?

During my stay, I participated in a wide variety of missions. I started by cleaning the carnivore enclosures, then got involved in enrichment projects by building, for example, a hut for the meerkats and crafting hooks for future enclosures.

I also had the chance to accompany the research team in the sanctuary to learn how to identify animal tracks. Among the most memorable experiences were taking the baboons out and walking with cheetahs.

I also helped prepare food for the sanctuary animals, assisted with anti-poaching unit missions, and participated in sorting the infrared camera photos from the reserve with the research team to identify the species present. These missions were valuable learning opportunities and ways to contribute to protecting local wildlife.
